Laurence Cotton's Team - September 2012

Lawrence Cotton’s team from Tennessee arrived on September 15 and served in the beautiful mountain village of Yarula, La Paz (click to see map). The bus ride included a brief drive into El Salvador. Upon arrival to the village, the unpacking and setting up of clinics was carried out in the rain and cool temperatures. The team was spread out across the village into five separate locations because of the location and size of the schools. Early morning views down the mountain revealed that we were above the clouds. During the day while the clinics were open, team members rotated through the ministry of delivering beans and rice to homes in the area. When the walk down the mountain became too far, John drove the team members. Many villagers came to know Christ as a result of this ministry. In the afternoons, boys would gather to play soccer so a team member challenged them with a Bible drill to win prizes including brand new soccer balls, a soccer pump and soccer pencils. The boys were given mini Bibles to take home and study and the next day they raced to find and read the verses. Smiles were all around as the winners were announced and the prizes awarded. Back at the mission team house, the team gave out beans and rice to homes in El Plan where more folks were saved. Even at the market place and Power Chicken, the team continued to share the gospel and more people came to know Jesus as Lord and Savior!
