On the first morning of clinics, only a few people were in line to attend. We were baffled and assumed that the town was unaware of the medical clinic. Loud speakers were attached to the top of the Toyota and the truck was driven around to announce the free clinic. While the guys were out, they discovered another clinic in town- the very same week. However, the other clinic was charging $22 to attend. The town's people believed our clinic was also charging to attend. When the people understood that the clinic was free, we were flooded with folks.
The local school, where the clinic was set up, continued to hold classes down the road. They brought all the children to the clinic by grades. Every student attended Bible class and was offered the choice to accept Jesus as their Savior. Then the students were guided through the medical and dental clinic.
This little girl was saved.
The team brought a room full of donated clothes, shoes, backpacks and more to hand out. No one went away empty handed.
One of the cutest things I saw was two little girls showing each other what they received.
Every afternoon a woman came and raked the school yard and picked up trash. And she did it with a smile on her face and singing. All of the team members noticed her joy. When asked about her salvation, she glowed as she told about her relationship with the Lord. It was evident. On the last evening of clinics, she brought her youngest daughter. She had already been to local doctors who told her that her daughter needed surgery. Our doctors confirmed and the team was happy to support this sweet family.
